There are two main numerology letters to numbers charts that can be used to calculate the different numbers that are used in numerology. The Pythagorean numerology chart is used for Pythagorean numerology, Kabbalah numerology, Abracadabra numerology and New Kabbalah numerology. In the Pythagorean letters to numbers chart the letters of the alphabet are connected to one of nine letters. The Pythagorean chart was developed from the Chaldean numerology number chart. In the Pythagorean chart you lay out the numbers one through nine horizontally and then create columns beneath them. Beginning with the letter ‘A’ beneath the number ‘1’, you’ll work across putting the letters under the numbers one at a time until you reach nine, then you’ll go back to one.
Any core numbers that require you to use the Pythagorean letters to numbers chart will use the numbers as they correspond to the letters in the example above. Your expression or destiny number, your personality number, and your soul urge number all use the letters to numbers chart.

Chaldean numerology uses a different numbers system. The number nine is dropped from the chart as the ancient Chaldeans believed nine was a spiritual number and including it in your chart was not only dishonest but that, as a part of the spirit world, it would disappear from your chart entirely and leave your reading completely messed up. In addition, not all Chaldean numerology charts are in agreement with how the letters and numbers should correspond. In the most commonly used Chaldean letters to numbers chart, the layout would be:

This change in the numbers to letters system is one of the reasons that Chaldean numerology is considered much harder than Pythagorean numerology. Because of this difference in difficulty many people prefer to use Pythagorean numerology rather than Chaldean numerology, despite Chaldean numerology being significantly older and heralding from the Biblical world and the Pythagorean form of numerology being a bit less detailed and exact.
No matter which form of numerology you use, you’ll want to get familiar with the chart that your preferred method uses to convert letters to numbers. Three of the five core numbers rely on your ability to get the number that is grouped with the letters of your name; some wanting the full name, and others wanting either just vowels or just consonants. Being able to quickly jot down the columns, letters and numbers means you can perform numerology on the run and answer almost any question that’s thrown at you no matter where you are or what you’re doing.
